Since 1987, VCLC has provided FREE Volunteer Tutoring for adults. VCLC tutors are fully certified by ProLiteracy America and help adults learn how to read and non-English speakers learn how to speak English. We also provide help with Citizenship, Basic Math, and Pre-GED Studies. We provide both one-to-one and small group instruction that lets the student learn at his or her own pace with confidentiality assured. BOOK Readers

Our Books Open to our Kids (BOOK) Readers read to children and their families in First Choice Community Healthcare and WIC Clinics in both Belen and Los Lunas. The medical personnel then advise the parents on the value of reading to children, giving them a new children’s book. Family Literacy Preschool

VCLC also provides a family literacy Preschool called “Mi Primera Escuelita Bilingue” for Adult Basic Education (ABE) students of UNM-Valencia Campus who are learning English and GED in Español. For more information, call Jill at 925-8926 or e-mail joglesby@valencialiteracy.org
