My name is Kazuko Davis. I am Japanese and I have been in NM almost 4 years.
When I came here I did not speak English very well and I was pregnant so I did not have time to go to school. At that time I was afraid of speaking English. I could understand what someone said but I could not speak back. Now, my daughter is 3 years old. I decided to go to school. My obstacle was English. If I cannot speak English well I cannot reach my goal. So now I am trying to learn English.
English is my third language. As I learn English more and more I think English is very complicated and the hardest to learn.
This year was very lucky, I met Miss Yamamoto. She introduced me to the Valencia County Literacy Council and Miss Lellos who is my tutor. I enjoy studying English with her and she is patient with me when helping to learn English.
I just started to move to my future. I still have a lot of work to do. Someday I hope my English will improve enough to let me get a degree.
I’d like to say how much I appreciate the Valencia County Literacy Council, My tutor Miss Lellos and my husband’s support. And Everyone that has help me reach my goal.
I think the Valencia county Literacy Council’s program is very important to people wanting to learn English. I hope this program will be continued and if I can do something I am glad to support your programs.
